Reservoir Announces Publishing Deal With Roxy Music’s Lead Guitarist, Phil Manzanera

May 18, 2022

New York, May 18, 2022— Reservoir Media, Inc. (NASDAQ: RSVR) ("Reservoir" or the "Company"), an award-winning independent music company, today announced a worldwide publishing deal with Roxy Music's lead guitarist, musician and songwriter-producer, Phil Manzanera. The deal includes works from Manzanera's catalog, which features songs by Roxy Music, as well as Pink Floyd, Tim Finn, and Brian Eno amongst others, plus future works.

Phil Manzanera is one of the U.K.'s most renowned musicians and record producers, having shot to prominence in the early 1970s as the guitarist for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Roxy Music. Roxy Music is credited with influencing glam rock, new wave, and the English punk scene, and has been described as one of the most influential British bands since The Beatles by the likes of The Guardian and The Economist. In celebration of Roxy Music's 50th anniversary in 2022, the band has announced a reunion tour across North America and the U.K. starting in September, along with an anniversary-themed vinyl reissue campaign for all eight of their albums. The group's self-titled debut album and follow up album For Your Pleasure, which were re-released in April, kicked off the year-long celebration.

In addition to his legacy with Roxy Music, Manzanera has contributed to incredible music over the years as a writer, producer, and artist. He has worked with a vast array of artists across the industry, including Steve Winwood, David Gilmour, Brian Eno, Robert Wyatt, Nico (Velvet Underground) and John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia), as well as many Rock en Español Latin Grammy artists, such as Heroes del Silencio, Draco Rosa, Aterciopelados, Bunbury, and Fito Paez. This year Manzanera is a part of two releases: a 10-CD box set of solo albums and a 20-CD box set of projects, including the 801 Live Band with Brian Eno.

In 2005, Manzanera co-produced On an Island, David Gilmour's first album in 10 years. He also co-produced Pink Floyd's 2014 album, The Endless River, which was a global hit, climbing to #1 in over 20 countries, as well as Gilmour's 2015 album, Rattle That Lock, which topped the charts in 12 countries. Manzanera also toured with Gilmour for more than 10 years.

Additionally, Manzanera has released 10 studio albums under his own name, making his debut in 1975 with Diamond Head and, most recently, collaborating with New Zealand singer and musician Tim Finn on Caught by the Heart in 2021. Their follow up album The Ghost of Santiago is expected in July 2022. Manzanera's guitar riff from the title track of his 1978 album K-Scope was sampled by Jay-Z and Kanye West for their Platinum-selling, Grammy-winning hit "No Church in the Wild" off their 5x-Platinum album Watch the Throne, demonstrating how far Manzanera's musical influence stretches.

On the deal Manzanera said, "I'm very happy to embark on this new relationship with Reservoir and look forward to many fruitful collaborations."

Reservoir Managing Director and Global Strategic Liaison Annette Barrett added, "We are so pleased to be working with Phil. He has collaborated with so many artists over his career, all while being prolific in creating his own music. His catalog is a piece of rock and roll history, and we're excited to be supporting him."
